Kays Medical were delighted to support STAFF at Eggborough power station who kicked off their year-long support for the MS Society in style raising £2,500 at their recent launch event on 25th March 2009.
The MS Society was chosen by staff and follows successful campaigns for Help the Hospices, Prince’s Trust and Radar.
Paul Tomlinson, station director at the station said: “The response for this opening event was superb with everyone on site digging deep to support this charity.”
Barbara Spreadborough, corporate account manager for MS Society, was at the event and said: “The event was excellent, it was obvious that a lot of planning went into making it good fun with such things as indoor golf and darts.
During the day the canteen played host to a number of games and a tombola while a raffle with donated-prizes, ranging from a DVD player, SatNav and hamper also helped raise money. Kays Medical donated a deluxe trauma kit for the raffle worth over £150 to help staff at Eggborough station raise funds.
The station’s staff will be fund-raising for the MS Society during the year but also looking at helping the local group by volunteering to support projects in and around Eggborough.
Barbara said: “We are looking at refurbishing the pond and gardens at York’s Woodlands Respite Care Centre which will be great.
“The funds that come into the centre often go to the direct care of those with severe MS and so the gardens and pond can be neglected, but with the help of the Eggborough team over the next few months we will re-establish this area.”
