Kays Medical Study Days for Occupational Health Professionals

Kays Medical where so overwhelmed at the response to their study day at Pugneys Country park in West Yorkshire on 23rd November 2005 that we repeated the day again, early this year, to cater for those who where unable to attend due to the high demand.

The Study Day centred on topics that where current and relevant to the occupational health market. Janet Lambley, Business Development Manager at Kays Medical, was able to identify these topics through feedback from occupational nurses, who make up a significant proportion of her customers.

Topics covered included sickness absence management, presented by Dr James Keech from Corus (Scunthorpe); an update on noise regulations and overview of new proposed HSE categorisation, presented by John Shuttleworth of Amplivox Ltd; and a spirometery update for occupational health professionals was delivered by Georgina Martin head of Cardio Respiratory Dept St. James University Hospital Leeds.

Keith Hopkins, Occupational Health Nurse at Corus, Scunthorpe was also present to give a talk on the Kids into Kiev Campaign – a charity set up, in partnership with UNICEF to help children in Chernobyl still feeling the effects of the terrible tragedy 20 years on. Kays Medical raffled a blood pressure monitor and an electronic ear thermometer on the day giving the proceeds to the charity.

Chris Newsome, Occupational Health Manager at ITV Yorkshire commented “I can highly recommend the course, if you can get to the course it will be well worth the money. I came away with lots of new knowledge and a very helpful set of course notes.”

Joanne Stewart, Occupational Health Nurse for South Yorkshire Police also maintained that they “would certainly be interested in forthcoming events, the day proved to be very valuable.”

Kays medical are now planning to put on more study days at key locations, covering numerous relevant topics, around the country throughout 2006. A Joint study day with JCB will be taking place on 20th June 2006 in Rocester - the topics covered will be: mens health, an update on noise regulations and also an update on the European Resuscitation Guidlines. Spaces are still available for this day at only £30 per delagate.
