We are extemely happy to announce the appointment of a new group financial director for Kays Medical.

Darren Biddlecombe has joined the family firm from Yakira Group, a national supplier of eyewear and accessories, where he was group finance director. Prior to this Darren was chief accountant for four years at the Liverpool headquarters of S.Norton & Co Ltd, a global exporter of recycled metal with a turnover in excess of £175m.

Managing director Ben Ludzker said: “Darren has impressive credentials. Kays has ambitious commercial objectives, including further acquisitions and increasing market share, and I am confident Darren’s skills and experience will be a great asset to us during our next phase of development.”

The Kays group comprises Kays Medical Ltd and sister company David Ludzker Ltd, which owns and operates a number of pharmacies in Liverpool.

Darren said: “I am delighted to be joining Kays at such an exciting time in its growth. I am looking forward to working closely with a strong and accomplished board and contributing to shaping Kays’ strategic growth plans.”

Darren’s previous experience includes high profile roles in leading business advisory firms including Baker Tilly where his work focused on advising owner managed and publicly listed businesses. Prior to this, Darren trained and qualified as a chartered accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he managed a wide range of clients from SMEs to plcs in various sectors for twelve years.

Darren lives in Blundellsands with his wife and two young children.

Founded in 1976, Kays’ customer base includes blue chip companies and public sector organisations in the UK and abroad. Kays hold a number of major national contracts supplying products and training to a wide variety of sectors such as leisure, food, manufacturing, retail, as well as GP surgeries, schools and prisons. Clients include BAE, Centre Parcs, New Look, Nomura, Granada and HMP Wayland. The company employs over 40 staff and this year turnover reached over £4m.
