Kays Medical, Liverpool based first aid supplies and training company is delighted to be supporting a group of bikers led by the Chairman of Rawmarsh Motor Cycle club, and Occupational Health Advisor at Corus Scunthorpe Ltd – Keith Hopkins. They are aiming to raise £20,000 for Children affected by the failure of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor.
“We have recently witnessed the 20th Anniversary of this devastating tragedy which has had such a knock on effect that many people including children born after the tragedy are still very much affected. The loss of homes and the health consequences, along with the psychological effects of the tragedy have resulted in many children and families in need of help” Keith Hopkins commented.
The 17 bikers and 2 passengers are preparing to embark on an epic 3500 mile ride to Kiev in order to raise awareness of the children of Chernobyl’s plight and to provide a £20,000 boost to them. They have achieved 70% of their target so far and hope to raise the remaining funds by June 26th 2006 when they are due to depart on their epic charitable journey.
Kays Medical had no hesitation in providing a number of bespoke first aid travel kits for the bikers to take with them, ensuring they are prepared for unexpected first aid requirements that may occur during the many miles of ground covered. Kays also supported the Kids into Kiev campaign by allotting a speaker slot, at a number of our national study days, providing a platform for Keith Hopkins to raise awareness of the project. They also conducted raffles at these study days with proceeds going to the UNICEF backed Kids into Kiev campaign which hopes to reach out to 200 affected children and their families.
