Employment Law

Within the UK, employment law changes regularly. This is often as a response to major events such as Brexit or COVID-19, or because of a change in government. Employment law changes can make managing your business more difficult, but it is also put in place so that employees and employers know their rights.

As employment law includes a vast range of legislation, you are not likely to have to deal with all areas. As a business, you need to understand the legislation around equal pay, employment contracts, maternity and paternity leave, holiday entitlement and pay and discrimination. Although it may seem complicated, UK employment legislation protects your business while keeping the employment relationship fair for both parties.

When you work with Kays for employment law support, we will keep track of the changing laws so that you don’t have to. Let us help you respond appropriately when new legislation comes in force, with your people and the business at the core of all action taken. We will help you comply with current law whilst keeping your policies and practices up to date.

To speak to our employment law team about any issues you may be facing or queries surrounding current legislation, please fill out our online contact form.

Maternity and Parental Leave Regulations 1999 – This act outlines the rights that new parents have when taking time off work following a new baby. By law, employees with children under the age of 18 are allowed to take up to 18 weeks off work unpaid throughout the year to look after their families.
