Kays Medical in the Running for Prestigious Award

Kays Medical, one of Liverpool’s most innovative and forward-thinking companies has been nominated for, ‘Best Commercial Scheme’, at the upcoming NWPAs (North West Property Awards) which take place on the 11th of October and are sponsored by Stewart Milne Homes. This award recognises the role Kays have played in the design and use of their new, state-of-the art, 3 storey office block and high bay warehouse facility in Speke.
The award recognises a scheme’s overarching, “commercial viability and suitability to its end use, as well as its end specification and design”.
The new site was conceived to expand both the company’s operations and its workforce; increasing turnover and aiming to employ a projected 50% increase in staff, bringing further prosperity to the area.
The development is situated on a prominent plot at Estuary Business Park, adjacent to the busy Speke Boulevard A561 ring road. The site was previously occupied by a part of the original Liverpool Airport.
Kays’ design and build contract for this new £4.5 million HQ office and warehouse and the 50,000 sq. ft. scheme was won by Williams Tarr Construction and will provide a new access road and service yard, 70 car spaces and dense landscaping with extra attention to detail and quality.
Kays’ architects for the project, Denovo Design, who are themselves nominated for the, ‘Community’ award, designed striking office elevations with expanses of curtain walling, brise-soleil and a feature main entrance portico. The warehouse elevations have a matt white composite cladding system and the warehouse interior will be zoned for storage of different products.
The new premises Kays Medical have created is an easily accessible, onsite Occupational Health facility, providing stronger support to SMEs in the local community. It also enhances the company’s strong commitment to staff health and well-being, with the construction of a truly ‘inspirational place to work’ – somewhere that can be enjoyed by employees, and visitors alike.

The glittering event organised by Move Publishing to celebrate a year of success across the industry will take place on the 11th of October at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral’s, Lutyens Crypt.
