Recommended for the use in the treatment of infections caused by susceptible
Staphylococci, Pneumococci, Gonococci and Haemolytic Streptococci.
Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of
antibacterial agents. Phenoxymethylpenicillin may be used for prophylaxis
against streptococcal infections following rheumatic fever and against
pneumococcal infections following splenectomy or in sickle cell
disease.
